I mostly wake up early but today I was up an hour earlier than usual when at 4:30 am I realized that at that moment, 7 years ago, my daughter Elizabeth and I were leaving Bowling Air-force Base and headed to witness history. President Barack Obama’s inauguration is forever etched on our hearts and minds, and is an experience we’ll hold dear for the rest of our lives. Today, he visited the#detroitcomeback #autoshow to check out the best of American innovation and ingenuity. I am glad we have a President who refused to give up on the American Automobile Industry and was willing to bet on it. There are numerous auto industry workers in Detroit, regardless of party affiliation, who are so glad he bet on America because they got to keep their jobs and take care of their families. Some got new jobs because the Obama Administration invested in America. Today, my daughter and I feel the same way about #44 as we felt about him all those years ago. Perhaps the only thing that has changed is the growth of our love, support and admiration for him and for all he has done. Thank you Mr. President! Thank you for making my country of refuge more like what I always imagined it to be. May God continue to bless you and yours, and may He bless the United States of America.
I posted this on my Instagram (please follow me on Instagram at sharline_n) page and my daughter loved it so much, she reposted it and added this: “#LoveYouMumma #ThankYouForTakingMe2WitnessHistory… @barackobama @whitehouse @michelleobama Thank you (most importantly) for truly and deeply loving this country and its people and for doing everything you can to bring about necessary change and progress. You’ve inspired us forever.”
I am forever grateful that we were blessed to share that moment in history together, thus my sharing it with you. This Thing Called Parenting calls you to find those things that will shape, inspire, teach and challenge your kids to be all that God created them to be, and share them with your children.
